This is a day time class only £120 covers the 4 weeks and materials COURSE OVERVIEW - Sculpture vour favorite animal or Pet: Create a unique clay sculpture of your favourite animal or beloved pet in this relaxed and supportive 4-week course with CATHY CHEYNE at Tradpots Pottery Studio. Suitable for all levels. • Pottery Instructor : CATHY CHEYNE is a friendly, qualified teacher who has previously lectured at both Bournemouth University and the University of Southampton. With a background in illustration and design, she now creates charming clay sculptures of animals, people and she loves helping others discover their creativity through hands-on clay sculpting. • PREPARATION (PRIOR TO CLASSES) - Students/customers bring reference images to work from of their favourite animal/pet. - Students provided with pre-weighed clay: + Weighed clay to help manage drying and storage space + Help guide the scale and completion time of each project • COURSE STRUCTURE SESSION 1 - Introduction and design planning + Introduction to the studio (safety and cleaning up procedures) + Discussion of animal choices and design planning + Demonstration: how to build a former + Learning to use the clay roller + Rolling clay + Covering the former to create a rough base shape SESSION 2 - Continue modelling sculpture + Refining proportions and structure + Adding basic features • Tutor guidance throughout + Removal of the former at the end of the session SESSION 3 - Details & Finishing sculpture + Adding character and finer details (fur, feathers, scales, etc.) + Smoothing and final adjustments + Preparing the piece for drying SESSION 4 - Glazing and finishing options + Glazing and finishing options + Applying glaze to sculpture Sculpture fired in Tradats Studio and collected from the studio (1 to 2 weeks later ) If you enjoy your four weeks, you can decide to extend the course and continue learning the art of pottery. • Please note : + It will take two to three weeks for the clay to dry and be fired, therefore you will need to return to collect it at a later date. Alternatively, we can post your creations to you (postage fees apply), however, we cannot accept responsibility for breakages while in transport to you. We will keep pots for 3 months. + Please ensure that your nails are a suitable length for the course, and bring a hair tie if you have long hair.
